Two-Part TV drama
An adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s short story A Dangerous Hobby.
England 1950. An injured, young, charming British solider returns to his wife and daughter from the Korean War and tries to adapt to civilian life, taking up work as a vacuum cleaner salesman, at which he soon excels. But maintaining his morale becomes increasingly difficult when on learning his injuries have resulted in permanent impotence, his wife shows no compassion whatsoever. Trapped in an unhappy marriage and lacking a sense of purpose, he finds bizarre relief in stealing personal items from his female clients he visits, until one day he is caught red handed and he responds with tragic consequences.
